Admission process for CTEVT now relies solely on SEE grades, eliminating requiremet for entrance exams.

In a significant shift towards a more streamlined and equitable admission process, the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) has announced that it will no longer require entrance exams for admission to its programs in the academic year 2082. Instead, students will be selected based on their scores in the Secondary Education Examination (SEE) and School Leaving Certificate (SLC).

This change aligns with a government directive to unify admission and scholarship guidelines for technical education and vocational training programs for the year 2082/83. According to Nirmala Sapkota, General Secretary of the Health and Technology Science Forum, this move will make it easier for students to pursue technical education.

The new admission process aims to simplify the procedure by eliminating separate entrance exams. Instead, selections will be strictly based on merit from SEE/SLC academic scores. This approach will facilitate easier admission for students into technical and vocational training programs across various institutes under CTEVT.

The Examination Controller's Office has confirmed that students will be admitted based on their GPA from this academic session. The office stated that entrance exams spread various negative rumors, hence the decision to admit students based on GPA.

Under the new system, students who studied in institutional (private) schools will be given 0.85 points, while those who studied in community schools will be given 1 point. The combined score will be used to determine the order of merit.

The Council has arranged for the submission of admission forms online. Students can now fill out the form on the Council's website, selecting their preferred subject, institution, and eligible quota.

The 207th meeting of the Council, held on 26th Baisakh 2082, decided to implement this change and instructed the Examination Controller's Office accordingly. This change represents a significant departure from previous years where separate CTEVT entrance exams were typically conducted.

CTEVT has issued the 'Guideline for Selection of Trainees, Scholarship Distribution, and Admission in Pre-Diploma, Diploma, and Certificate Levels 2082'. The focus will now shift to conducting semester and yearly exams based on the academic calendar.

The decision to abolish entrance exams will likely benefit the thousands of students who enroll in CTEVT colleges each year. With the responsibility of managing entrance exams for six months removed from the CTEVT office, resources can be redirected towards improving the quality of education and training provided to students.

In summary, for academic year 2082: - CTEVT admissions no longer require an entrance exam. - Students are selected based on their SEE and SLC exam scores. - This process is part of a unified admission guideline issued by the government for technical education.

This change is expected to bring more transparency and fairness to the admission process, making it easier for deserving students to pursue technical education and vocational training programs under CTEVT.
