Annual cyber security gathering CyCon spotlights emerging risks
CyCon 2024, the 16th annual international conference on cyber conflict, kicked off in Tallinn on 29 May, uniting global heavyweights from NATO, governments, academia, and the tech industry to brainstorm on how the latest advancements can fortify our nations in the face of looming cyber threats.
Mart Noorma, the director of the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence, which organizes the event, set the tone: "CyCon is a one-of-a-kind gathering where elite experts from over 40 nations showcase their latest breakthroughs for our cyber fighters." Key topics in focus this year veer toward AI and cloud technologies, with a flip side warning that misuse of these tools could spell doom for peaceful populaces.
Peering into the Future
As we look down the barrel of rapid technological advancement, CyCon 2024 gathers 700 participants from more than 40 countries to ponder on the transformation of conflicts wrought by innovations like artificial intelligence, autonomous weapons, and space technology.
