Apple is joining forces with the National Park Foundation in a significant initiative to support America's national parks and celebrate Indigenous history. From August 22 to August 28, 2022, Apple will donate $10 to the National Park Foundation for every Apple Pay purchase made. This week-long campaign is capped at a generous $1,000,000 donation.

The National Park Foundation is the official charitable partner of the National Park Service, and donations will contribute towards preserving and sustaining these cherished national treasures. Last year, Apple's donation supported the Leaders of Color service corps crew, providing opportunities for aspiring BIPOC conservationists.

One such individual who benefited from this programme is Kalen Anderson, a member of the Nansemond Indian Nation. Anderson completed the Werowocomoco internship program at Colonial National Historical Park and Captain John Smith Chesapeake National Historic Trail. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity, noting its significant impact on his personal and cultural development.

Apple's commitment to the National Park Service extends beyond financial support. Tim Cook, Apple's CEO, recently visited Yosemite and Glacier national parks. The partnership between Apple and the National Park Foundation also aims to ensure that all people see themselves in national parks and feel welcome.

To further celebrate the 106th year of the US National Park Service, Apple has launched special collections and offerings across its services, allowing users to explore unique worlds of national parks. Additionally, the Parks that Honor Native American History Guide in Apple Maps provides information about national parks celebrating Indigenous history and heritage.

On Apple Podcasts, there is a collection of episodes centering Indigenous voices, including the "Yellowstone" episode of "Parks," a podcast about the people who lived on US public lands before colonists arrived.

As part of the current One-Dollar-for-National-Parks program, Apple Watch users can earn a limited edition Activity Challenge award by completing a hike, walk, run, or wheelchair workout of a mile or more on August 27.
