Brief presentations to students at the University of Art and Design's Upper Institute
The much-anticipated MuseumsUni Mönchengladbach program is set to commence once again, offering an enriching learning experience for middle and upper school students. Held at Rheydt Castle, this 13-year-old educational initiative continues to captivate the minds of young learners, with lectures taking place in the Great Hall every Tuesday and Thursday, from 12 to 1 PM.
This year, the program boasts a diverse lineup of speakers, including six professors from the University of Applied Sciences Niederrhein (HSNR) and two guest lecturers. The topics covered in the program span various areas of expertise, providing a comprehensive and engaging learning experience.
Sustainability and Innovation
Dr. Michael Heber and Dr. Ferdinand Hermanns from the Engineering department at HSNR will delve into the sustainability of electric vehicles, while Professor Dr. Katharina Erhardt from Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf will discuss the impact of the new US tariff policy on prosperity.
Creativity and History
Professor Richard Jung from the Design department will discuss the evolution of creative advertising from posters to social media, and Professor Dr. Nils Kopal (Engineering and Computer Science) will reveal methods for deciphering encrypted letters from the past.
Theology and Global Challenges
Professor Dr. Dorothea Sattler from Münster University's Faculty of Catholic Theology will discuss the papal election, the conclave, and the challenges facing the global church today. Interestingly, it's Prof. Dr. Simone Sinn, a theology professor at the University of Münster, who will be sharing her insights at MuseumsUni Mönchengladbach.
Culture and Diversity
Professor Dr. Donja Amirpur, Vice President for University Culture and Diversity at HSNR, will speak on "Where Are You Really From?" and the power of distinctions - and why some questions can fuel racism.
Art and Science
Lastly, Professor Dr. Christian Schmitz (Chemistry) will explore the development of paint pigments from flower dyes, offering a unique blend of art and science.
