Burkina Faso Introduces ASI TALK Program to Educate 500 Youth in Advanced Digital Technologies
New Digital Training Program Aims to Boost Burkina Faso's Tech Talent
The African Society Informatics (ASI) has launched a new program, ASI TALK, with a mission to train 500 young Burkinabe individuals in digital skills over the next two months. The program, which was unveiled on August 2, 2025, in Ouagadougou, is part of the government's efforts to provide an environment for Burkinabe youth to develop their talents and contribute to the country's digital transformation.
Elise Kaba, who represented the Minister of Digital Transition, Postes et Communications Electroniques at the event, emphasised the importance of empowering local youth to design solutions for local challenges. "We can no longer import our future. We have to code it, design it and secure it ourselves," she said, quoting the program's slogan.
The ASI TALK program is structured around three key pillars: training, round tables, and project incubation and support. The training will focus on strengthening skills in innovation, leadership, and digital transformation, with practical digital skills training, the use of collective intelligence, and support and coaching for innovative projects.
Throughout August and September, the program will see the rapid training of a significant number of youths (500 in two months), enhancing the digital talent pool in Burkina Faso. The program will also encourage entrepreneurship and start-up creation through project incubation, aligning with broader government initiatives to boost digital literacy from early education levels.
The event was held under the patronage of the Minister of Digital Transition, Postes et Communications Electroniques, Dr. Aminata Zerbo/Sabane. Elise Kaba, however, did not reveal any future plans or expansions of the ASI TALK program, nor did she mention any changes to the training schedule, focus, or structure. She also did not announce any new partnerships or sponsors for the program.
The ASI TALK program aims to contribute to national digital transformation efforts by preparing a skilled workforce for emerging jobs, as market trends predict that millions of jobs in Sub-Saharan Africa will require digital skills by 2030. By equipping young Burkinabe people with practical digital skills and innovative capacities, the program supports their professional development and the country's digital economy growth.
In summary, ASI TALK is a structured, intensive training and support program aimed at empowering Burkinabe youth with the skills needed to drive digital transformation in their country. The program's focus on practical training, collective intelligence, and project support provides a unique opportunity for young people to develop their talents and contribute to the growth of Burkina Faso's digital economy.
