In an effort to support and empower the next generation of UK business founders, Simply Business has launched the Young Entrepreneur Fund - a £50,000 initiative that provides funding, mentorship, and business support to young entrepreneurs aged 18 to 30.

The fund, which was launched in August 2025, is a joint venture that aims to address the gap between young people's entrepreneurial ambitions and their ability to start businesses. The initiative is open to UK residents between the ages of 18 and 30, and applications can be submitted online via Simply Business’s website campaign page until 9th October 2025.

The judging panel for the Young Entrepreneur Fund includes Simply Business’s UK CEO Julie Fisher, musician Professor Green, BBC’s The Apprentice winner Harpreet Kaur, and a charity CEO. The panel will evaluate entries based on criteria such as business uniqueness, growth ambitions, innovation, and social impact.

The winners of the Young Entrepreneur Fund, who will be announced on 20th November 2025, will receive a £5,000 grant each and enter a six-week business support programme with Hatch Enterprise starting January 2026. Three runners-up will receive exclusive one-to-one mentoring from Harpreet Kaur, founder of Oh So Yum and 2022 BBC’s The Apprentice winner.

In addition to the Young Entrepreneur Fund, Simply Business has a broader mission to support social impact and inclusive small business communities. The partnership with Hatch Enterprise supports longer-term growth by tackling early-stage barriers to entrepreneurship.

Meanwhile, AbbeyAutoline, Northern Ireland's largest insurance broker, has partnered with Young Enterprise to promote enterprise and innovation. The partnership positions AbbeyAutoline as a key supporter of future insurance business leaders and entrepreneurs.

The launch of the Young Entrepreneur Fund comes at a time when a new research paper, released during National Careers Week 2025, calls for enterprise education to be embedded as part of the National Curriculum. The paper suggests that this could help address the low number of young people turning their entrepreneurial ambitions into reality.

Millions of young people dream of being their own boss, but only a fraction are able to turn that ambition into a reality. The Young Entrepreneur Fund champions the opportunities that entrepreneurship offers and provides vital funding and mentorship to help more young people achieve their dreams.
