The saga unfolded in the bustling city of Thiruvananthapuram, where the student in question, a 20-year-old local, was promptly taken into custody by the Pathanamthitta police. The incident occurred at the GVHSS Thykkavu exam centre, where invigilators noticed discrepancies on the student's admit card.

Upon closer examination, the admit card revealed some glaring inconsistencies. The main section of the card bore the student's name, "Jithu," but the self-declaration portion had details belonging to another candidate, "Abhiram," who was officially assigned a different centre in Thiruvananthapuram. The hall ticket also listed "Marthoma HSS," a school not typically used as a NEET exam centre.

During questioning, the student admitted that the admit card had been sent to his mother's phone via WhatsApp by a female staff member at an Akshaya Centre in Neyyattinkara, Thiruvananthapuram. The student mistakenly believed the exam was at Marthoma HSS, and only realized his error upon reaching GVHSS Thykkavu.
