In a ceremony held recently, 79 foreign nurses employed by City Hospital Solingen received their health and nursing certificates, marking the successful completion of their recognition procedure. This achievement comes after a year-long process and follows a six- to nine-month preparation course that includes both theoretical and practical training.

The hospital's management, including Heike Zinn, nursing director, highlighted the contribution of personal effort and the collaborative work with the existing teams of nurses and practice instructors to this success. All graduates have now reached the language level B2, a requirement for foreign nurses in Solingen.

The Solingen Hospital has been actively recruiting foreign nurses to address a nursing staff shortage. The nursing training abroad, in contrast to Germany, often takes the form of a study, leaving practical skills such as personal body care for patients and serving meals lacking. However, the foreign nurses who have come to Solingen receive training in these practical skills as part of their preparation course.

The low number of dropouts among foreign nurses is a point of rejoicing for the nursing director of the hospital. Currently, 60 people are under the care of the practice instructors and the education academy of the hospital, on their way to recognition and still have the exam ahead of them.

To date, a total of 145 people from abroad have arrived at the hospital. Of these, 86 have already obtained recognition, and 7 are still waiting for their certificate. The specific names or countries of origin of the 60 foreigners currently undergoing training at the Solingen Hospital Academy and who still need to take the recognition exam are not publicly disclosed.

The hospital's management emphasizes the importance of this program, stating that it not only addresses the nursing staff shortage but also contributes to the diversity and cultural richness of the hospital environment. The successful integration of foreign nurses into the hospital's teams is a testament to the hospital's commitment to providing high-quality care to its patients.
