Collaborator and past administrator of NIH, Francis Collins, claims Anthony Fauci's endeavors have protected "tremendous numbers" of lives, amounting to tens of millions.
Francis Collins' Failures and Flaws Exposed
Francis Collins, who once held the director's seat at the National Institutes of Health, has made quite a name for himself during the COVID-19 pandemic. Unfortunately, it isn't the crowned jewel of leadership one might expect from a former director of such an esteemed organization.
During the early days of the pandemic, Collins abandoned his role as a scientific leader and transformed into a political figure. Instead of remaining calm, adhering to existing pandemic guidelines, and basing decisions on sound science, Collins nonetheless followed the masses and demanded that the public and media conform to his beliefs, regardless of dissent.
A prime example of this can be seen in his treatment of Dr. Jay Bhattacharya and other highly qualified epidemiologists who published the Great Barrington Declaration. Collins communicated with Dr. Anthony Fauci, expressing a desire for a "quick and devastating published takedown" of Bhattacharya's suggestions. As was so often the case, Collins intertwined science and politics, making misinformed assumptions, and refusing to listen to new evidence.
Fast forward to today, Collins is still playing politics, singing Dr. Anthony Fauci's praises in an interview at The Atlantic Festival. Fauci's organization is suspected to have contributed funding to the gain-of-function research that may have led to the release of the coronavirus from the Wuhan Institute of Virology. This malicious and contagious virus stands responsible for millions of deaths worldwide.
When asked about the lives attributed to Dr. Fauci, Collins was quick to shower him with compliments. "Yeah, it's certainly in the tens of millions," Collins said. "Tony Fauci was a big architect of PEPFAR, the George W. Bush effort to get anti-retrovirals to people in Africa. Last I heard, that saved 26 million lives, that program alone."
Funnily enough, Collins failed to mention the questionable gain-of-function research Fauci advocated for or the many lives lost to the lockdowns Fauci championed.
Far from done with misinformation, Collins continued to obfuscate the facts. He lashed out at social media, claiming it allowed people to discuss pandemic policies based on "credible" information that contradicted the actual facts. In his eyes, misinformation led to the deaths of millions, claiming that between June 2021 and March 2022, 234,000 Americans died unnecessarily.
This is sheer gaslighting. Collins bears much of the blame for the politicization of science, and his inaccurate claims about masks and vaccines are the perfect example. He didn't hesitate to spew misinformation, demonizing outsiders who opposed the disastrous lockdowns and mask mandates as purveyors of "misinformation".
Collins and Fauci's inability to adapt in the face of new evidence is disheartening. Had they listened to reliable evidence, countless lives could have been saved from extended lockdowns. They could have quickly ended mask mandates by acknowledging that they were ineffective, and this would have improved the lives of millions worldwide.
Furthermore, the narrative of misinformation being the fatal blow tearing families and communities apart rings hollow when it is Collins himself who has contributed to this mess. His rigid adherence to a flawed, consensus-driven approach, refusal to engage in open debate, and unwillingness to accept alternative viewpoints has not only compounded public distrust but has also undermined the integrity of the scientific community.
It's time for Collins to step down from his high horse, step back from the microphone, and reflect on his failures during the pandemic. If he truly wants to make a positive impact, he should focus on transparent communication, accountability, and taking responsibility for his actions. It's the least he can do for the countless lives affected by his lack of leadership.
