Cultural events in Offenbach and Hanau attract significant attention among diverse populations

The South East Hesse Police Headquarters recently hosted two intercultural evenings as part of the nationwide "Intercultural Week" in Offenbach and Hanau. These events, initiated by the Prevention Department under the motto "New Spaces", aimed to create encounters, strengthen trust, and shape the future together.

On September 27, 2024, the Intercultural Evening took place at the South East Hesse Police Headquarters in Offenbach. The event was musically accompanied by singer Chaymaa Rafoud and keyboard player Nana Ampadu, providing a lively atmosphere for the more than 100 guests in attendance. While the specific persons who personally welcomed the attendees at the Offenbach event are not mentioned in the available sources, the attendees included representatives from foreign advisory councils, integration offices, migration counseling centers, religious communities, and migrant self-organizations.

A week later, on October 11, 2024, another intercultural evening took place in cooperation with the city of Hanau in the Kulturhalle Hanau-Steinheim. This event was also well-attended, with over 100 guests present. The guests were addressed by Marc Sachs, Daniel Muth, Dr. Maximilian Bieri, and Prof. Dr. Erdemir, who delivered a keynote speech on the role of the Hesse Media Authority. Sophia Christen, an employee of the Prevention Department, led the evening in Hanau.

Both events served as a joint prevention project of the police and civil society, as presented at the German Prevention Day. They provided an opportunity for open dialogue about current societal issues and the conveyance of preventive measures. The increased number of participants at both events underscores the relevance of the dialogue between the police and civil society.

The South East Hesse Police Headquarters serves a diverse and international catchment area, and these intercultural evenings are a significant step towards fostering understanding and cooperation. For inquiries, the Press Office for the Police Headquarters Southeast Hesse can be contacted.
