Discover the FCBA Tutoring Program, a Flushing-focused organization committed to delivering top-tier education for students of all academic levels.

In the heart of Flushing, New York, the FCBA Tutoring Program stands as a beacon of academic support and community involvement. This student-led organization, under the umbrella of the Flushing Business Chinese Association (FBCA), is based within the New York Tutoring Center (NYTC).

The FCBA Tutoring Program's mission is clear: to provide quality educational assistance to students in Flushing, making learning accessible and beneficial for all participants. The program achieves this through a combination of tutoring and volunteering services, fostering a supportive environment in the Flushing area.

The program offers tutoring for a wide range of subjects, including STEM subjects like Chemistry or Algebra 1, and English as a Second Language (ESL) services for students learning English as a second language. Moreover, it provides test-taking strategies and practice standardized exams for students in grades 3 to 8 to help them excel on New York's State Assessments.

High school students can volunteer as tutors, teaching in their preferred area of interest. This not only aids the students receiving tutoring but also provides opportunities for academically driven high school students to share their knowledge and experience from their school life with younger students.

The program also offers a Homework Help course, where students work with designated tutors to solve homework questions and receive assistance with topics they're confused about. For middle schoolers, the program provides preparatory courses to help them master the Specialized High Schools Admissions Test (SHSAT) and gain entry to New York City's specialized high schools.

One of the key aspects of the FCBA Tutoring Program is its affordability. With many tutoring services costing thousands of dollars per semester, the program provides an accessible alternative for families who may not have the financial stability to afford these services.

The ESL program is divided into two sections: the first section focuses on sentence structure, punctuation, grammar, and definitions of various words, while the second section is independent reading with a designated tutor.

The FCBA Tutoring Program operates as a Saturday enrichment program from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and caters to students from diverse ethnicities, financial statuses, and ages, ranging from Pre-K to 12th Grade.

Emily Lin '26, a junior at Bronx Science and the CEO of the FCBA Tutoring Program, emphasizes the program's mission to provide opportunities for success to families who may not have the luxury of financial stability. The program hosts high school, college, and career showcases and expos, featuring guest speakers and collaborations with other organizations.

In partnership with the New York Police Department and participating in events such as the 29th Annual Flushing Chinese Business Association Lunar New Year Parade, the FCBA Tutoring Program demonstrates its commitment to the Flushing community. The program continues to thrive, offering a vital resource for academic support and community engagement in the area.
