Dubai Chambers Conducts Seminars to Instruct Businesses on Business Taxation and Labor Laws
Dubai Chambers recently organised two informative workshops aimed at keeping the local business community informed and compliant with the latest legal developments in the UAE's corporate tax regime and employment regulations. The workshops, which attracted 125 participants from the private sector, were held in collaboration with leading legal and advisory firms.
The first workshop, conducted with Habib Al Mulla & Partners and Andersen, focused on the evolution of the UAE Corporate Tax regime. It provided practical insights into key aspects such as the applicability of corporate tax, tax implications for Free Zone entities, tax grouping rules and structures, methods for calculating corporate tax, transfer pricing compliance requirements, industry-specific expense deductions, preparation for corporate tax returns, updates on recent legislative changes, considerations for tax accounting, including current and deferred tax liabilities. This comprehensive coverage ensured participants were well-prepared for compliance in the transitioning tax landscape.
In contrast, the second session, organised with Fragomen UAE and Gateley Middle East, addressed the framework and practicalities of the UAE labour market. The topics covered included an overview of visa categories and work permit requirements, employment contract aspects such as probation periods, pay and benefits, performance management procedures, handling of grievances, and processes related to end-of-service benefits and compliance. This session aimed to provide HR professionals and business leaders with practical guidance to navigate employment laws efficiently and maintain lawful HR operations.
Although the second session did not provide insights on tax applicability, Free Zone taxation, tax grouping, transfer pricing, legal obligations, corporate tax return preparation, industry-specific deductions, or recent legislative updates, these topics were covered in the first workshop. The second session, however, did not cover aspects of the UAE's corporate tax framework, unlike the first workshop.
Dubai Chambers stated that the workshops are part of its ongoing efforts to keep the business community informed and prepared for evolving regulations. The workshops focused on the UAE's corporate tax regime and employment regulations, providing practical, up-to-date knowledge on corporate tax compliance and employment law management, helping businesses align with the UAE’s latest regulations.
