Entrepreneur Viola Klein Honoured With Federal Cross of Merit
Viola Klein, an esteemed Dresden entrepreneur and philanthropist, has been honored with the Federal Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany. The award, presented by Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier at an event celebrating German Unity Day, recognized Klein's significant contributions to society and her entrepreneurial spirit.
Klein, who co-founded Saxonia Systems AG in 1994, has been a driving force behind one of Saxony's most innovative and successful IT and software companies. Her entrepreneurial prowess extends beyond her business ventures, as she actively encourages women to pursue careers in MINT fields and found startups.
Klein's commitment to social causes is evident in her role as chairwoman of the Hope Cape Town Foundation. This organization supports disadvantaged children in South Africa, focusing on healthcare and education. Klein's dedication to this cause led her to initiate the 17th Hope Gala, a benefit event that raises funds for the foundation's projects.
Her dedication to her community and beyond has not gone unnoticed. Klein was one of 25 individuals honored with the Federal Cross of Merit this year. Among her fellow recipients were 16 women and 9 men, including Erwin Knebel from Hilden, recognized for his volunteer work in consumer protection and digital literacy for older people. Other prominent recipients included football world champion Philipp Lahm and singer and actress Anna Loos.
