In the heart of Germany, the town of Lünen is taking a unique approach to promoting democratic values and encouraging conversations about social cohesion. The 'Partnership for Democracy Lünen,' a project supported by the federal program 'Democracy lives!,' has teamed up with students from Münster University to create a series of beer mats themed around democracy.

Horst Engel, a member of the project group, led the initiative along with Christa Damschen. Their aim was to promote democracy in their home town, using these simple, everyday items as a conversation starter. The beer mats, distributed in public facilities, bars, and event spaces, contain prompts that encourage citizens to discuss democratic values and social cohesion.

The 'Partnership for Democracy Lünen' is not a new player in this field. It is a part of the federal 'Democracy lives!' program, which supports projects that promote democracy and social cohesion. This program includes workshops, discussion events, public actions, or creative projects that strengthen democratic values.

The current funding year for the 'Partnership for Democracy Lünen' is ongoing, with applications still being accepted until October 5. If you have an idea for a project that fosters a diverse, respectful, and democratic society, you can still submit your proposal. The applications for individual measures have already been approved by the 'Partnership for Democracy Lünen.'

The beer mats project is just one example of the creative ways in which the 'Partnership for Democracy Lünen' is working to promote democracy and social cohesion in their community. By encouraging open discussions and fostering a respectful and diverse society, they are making a significant contribution to the future of Lünen.
