"Gathering for Building a Quality School": Focus Session Held at Lusan Educational Campus

The Lusan Education Campus project, a significant undertaking aimed at future-proofing the educational landscape and improving the quality of life in the region, is currently in progress in the city of Gera.

The first phase of the project, the renovation and expansion of "Die Vierte" comprehensive school, has already seen substantial progress. The topping-out ceremony for this phase took place last Friday, 12 September 2025.

Mayor Julian Vonarb, who is overseeing the project, expressed his conviction that the education campus will significantly enrich the entire region. The city is investing around 35 million euros in the project, with around 17.5 million euros already secured from the federal government, the Free State of Thuringia, and the European Union.

The school construction project includes a three-wing comprehensive school with 450 places. A spacious, multifunctional outdoor area is also part of the plan. Additionally, the construction of a new two-field sports hall with 200 spectator seats is underway.

In a second construction phase, the Wilhelm-Busch primary school will be expanded. The guiding principle of the comprehensive school is "Making school good together." However, no new information about the number of places in the school or the expansion of the Wilhelm-Busch primary school is provided.

The building envelope work, including window and roof sealing, and the installation of the thermal insulation composite system, has begun at "Die Vierte" comprehensive school. The completion of the first construction phase of the school project is planned for approximately one year from now.

The project aims to provide a modern and sustainable educational environment for the students of Gera, contributing to the overall improvement of the quality of life in the area. Further updates on the progress of the Lusan Education Campus will be provided as the project continues.
