Modernization of Schools in Astana: A Stepping Stone Towards a Comfortable Learning Environment

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev's ambitious plan to modernize 1,300 schools across Kazakhstan by 2027 is well underway, with the capital city, Astana (now known as Nur-Sultan), leading the charge.

In the 2021-2022 school year, Astana embarked on a significant phase of this nationwide educational upgrade, focusing on capital repairs and modernization of school infrastructure. Six schools have been identified for renovation this year: No. 1, 14, 21, 35, 61, and 69.

The project aims to create a safe, modern, and functional educational environment. It encompasses more than just restoring engineering networks and building structures. The work also involves fully modernizing the educational process according to contemporary standards.

The scope of the project includes roof, facade, and interior repairs, as well as the renewal of heating, ventilation, water supply, and sewage systems. Modern security systems, fire alarms, and low-current systems will be installed. Classrooms will be equipped with digital equipment and new furniture, and libraries, auditoriums, sports halls, and dining rooms will be modernized.

All repair work will adhere to the standards of the "Comfortable School" project, ensuring a comfortable and conducive learning environment for students. This effort is part of broader economic improvements supported by increased government investment, following Kazakhstan’s noted GDP growth and increased tax revenues enabling capital projects.

As the renovations progress, students and teachers in Astana can look forward to a more modern and functional educational environment that supports contemporary learning standards. This is a significant step towards President Tokayev's goal of modernizing 1,300 schools nationwide by 2027.

The modernization project in Astana, focusing on education and self-development, entails more than just repairing school structures; it aims to adapt the educational process according to contemporary standards, thereby creating a safe, modern, and functional learning environment. This renovation, including digital equipment, modern security systems, and updated facilities, aligns with the Comfortable School project standards, which are part of the broader general news of Kazakhstan's economic improvements and increased government investment.
