Dr. James W. Gregory: A Prominent Figure in Aerospace Engineering

Dr. James W. Gregory, currently serving as the dean of the College of Engineering at Embry-Riddle's Daytona Beach Campus, has had an illustrious career in the field of aerospace engineering.

Before joining Embry-Riddle, Dr. Gregory served in various academic roles. He began his higher education at the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1994, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering with highest honors in 1999. During his time at Georgia Tech, he also worked as an engineering co-op at Delta Air Lines from 1995 to 1998.

Following his undergraduate studies, Dr. Gregory pursued his Ph.D. on Aeronautics and Astronautics at Purdue University, receiving his master's degree in 2002 and his Ph.D. in 2005. During his Ph.D. studies, he completed internships at NASA Glenn Research Center and Tohoku University in Japan.

After completing his Ph.D., Dr. Gregory worked as a visiting research scientist at the US Air Force Academy from December 2005 to December 2007. He then returned to academia, working as an assistant professor at The Ohio State University from January 2008 to September 2013. In September 2013, he was promoted to associate professor, a position he held until November 2017.

Notably, in November 2017, Dr. Gregory became the director of the Aerospace Research Center at The Ohio State University. During his tenure, he also served as the chair of the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering until leaving the university in 2021.

Prior to his current role at Embry-Riddle, Dr. Gregory served as a policy fellow at the National Academy of Engineering for four months. His work spans many areas throughout his career, contributing significantly to aerospace and aeronautical engineering education.
