Home Builders Engage Teens in Construction with Boys & Girls Club Projects

The home building industry is celebrating Careers in Construction Month this October. Locally, the Home Builders Association (HBA) of Greater Springfield recently organised a three-day project for teens from Boys & Girls Club locations. They built picnic tables using resources from the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB).

NAHB offers various resources to encourage local events like this. Their Picnic Table Build Guide was used in Springfield. Additionally, NAHB's Career Connection program and Boys & Girls Club Partnership Toolkit can help other local associations organise similar projects.

Earlier this year, the HBA of St. Louis built grill huts for local Boys & Girls Clubs over three days. This was part of NAHB's partnership program. The Greater Birmingham Association of Home Builders also collaborated with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Alabama to construct a shed for arts and crafts, funded by NAHB's grant.

NAHB's Boys & Girls Club partnership funding is available through Career Connection at the National Housing Endowment. These initiatives aim to engage young people in construction careers while giving back to local communities.
