ICSE Class 10 Art Syllabus for 2025-26: A Comprehensive Overview
The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has released the ICSE Class 10 Art Syllabus for the 2025-26 academic year. The syllabus outlines the course structure, marking scheme, and exam pattern for the upcoming board exams.
Exam Structure
The ICSE Class 10 Art exam consists of four external papers, each 3 hours long. Candidates are required to choose any two papers for their examination. The papers focus on specific types of art work:
- Drawing and/or Painting from Still Life
- Drawing and/or Painting from Nature
- Original Imaginative Composition in Colour
- Applied Art
Medium and Marking Scheme
Candidates may use any suitable medium for the art papers, but painted work should be done with quick-drying mediums like water-mixed acrylics. Quality materials must be used for crayons or chalk. The marking scheme is likely to follow a 50 (theory/practical exam) + 50 (internal assessment/practical/project) division, as is common for skill-based subjects like Art.
Rules and Regulations
- All drawings must be packed flat and not rolled.
- In Papers 1 to 3, mechanical means for drawing or painting execution (like measuring or ruling) are not allowed.
- In Paper 4, instruments and tracing papers are allowed, but candidates are advised to restrict their use.
- Candidates must write their names on drawings and paintings on the front (top right-hand corner) and also on the back of their assignments.
- At centres for candidates from more than one school, both alternatives in Paper 2 (Plant Drawing) must be provided if required.
- Candidates will have to submit four pieces of finished Artwork for assessment by the External Examiner, which can be based on the syllabus or from any of the suggested topics.
