An increase in training contracts has been observed in East Saxony's craftsmanship sector, with a total of 21 more contracts signed so far this year compared to the previous year. According to the chamber, 781 school leavers have already secured apprenticeships, with 190 of them being young women.

"The trend continues, with both young people and training companies committing earlier," said Andreas Brzezinski, the main manager of the Dresden Chamber of Crafts.

In the regions of Meißen, Bautzen, Görlitz, Saxon Switzerland-Osterzgebirge, and the state capital Dresden, there is high demand for automotive mechatronics, electronics, and plant mechanics. The top ten in-demand apprenticeship positions also include retail salespersons in the food trade, hairdressers, carpenters, joiners, painters and varnishers, bakers, and roofers.

Currently, over 400 apprenticeship positions, more than 400 places for internships, and around 200 holiday jobs remain vacant in the region's craftsmanship sector. The companies in the area offer training in almost 80 professions, ranging from plant mechanics to joiners.
