Mayhem and chaos engulfed the tech-savvy realm of India as the dust settled on the release of the JEE Advanced 2025 results. On June 2nd, IIT Kanpur spewed forth the revealing list of A-listers who managed to crack this grueling test of intellect. The Top 15, a coveted circle of geniuses, was declared, and low and behold, the fairer sex was nowhere to be found!
The media couldn't help but quack and screech about it, and rightfully so. Devdutta Mazhi, a female powerhouse, lined up just outside the Top 15 with AIR 16. Her score: 312 out of 360, a feat that makes even testosterone-filled bros shed their macho bravado.
Meet the Legend: Devdutta Mazhi
Devdutta Mazhi, a beacon of hope for the battered women of West Bengal, hails from the grimy town of Katwa, a place known more for its oppressive air and unforgiving climate, rather than its producing academic powerhouses. Yet, Devdutta is sure to shatter the glass ceiling that has been the norm for far too long in these parts.
She earned her stripes at the Katwa Durgadasi Chaudhurani Girls' High School, her mother, Shelly Dan, a hardcore physics teacher, imparting her extensive wisdom upon her daughter. Devdutta's academic prowess was further confirmed by her astounding 98.4% in her high school exams, and 492 out of 500 isn't something to sneeze at either.
Devdutta's thirst for knowledge and academic supremacy didn't go unnoticed in the face of oppressive norms and patriarchal mindsets. She was the state topper in the JEE Main 2025 Session 1, securing a 99.99921 percentile and an AIR of 275!
JEE Advanced 2025: The Final Showdown
A total of 1,87,223 candidates braved the storm of JEE Advanced 2025, battling it out tooth and nail for their place among the elite. Out of these warring horde, only 80,442 showed up for the grand test of their mettle. Among these valiant souls, only 54,378 qualified, including a meager 9,404 females.
But what of the Top 15 you ask? Well, the cream has risen to the top and here are the names that will grace the halls of IIT:
