Job Fair Scheduled at Cerritos College on Thursday, October 2nd

Cerritos College is hosting a Job Fair on October 2, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Student Center, located at 11110 Alondra Boulevard in Norwalk. The event is free to the public and parking will be available at no cost in Lot 1.

The Job Fair is an excellent opportunity for job seekers to connect with employers, discuss current openings, and submit applications. Employers from healthcare, sales, retail, and government/public sectors will be present, with more than 30 participating from various industries.

Attendees are encouraged to dress in professional business attire and bring multiple copies of their resumes. On-site resume assistance will also be provided to help job seekers make a strong impression.

In an effort to improve Hispanic students' enrollment, performance, and graduation rates, Cerritos College secured a $3 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education. The grant is aimed at enhancing student success, particularly for the Hispanic/Latinx community at Cerritos College.

Negotiations between the Cerritos College Faculty Association and the college administration have been ongoing for over fifteen months, as of April 2022. The Cerritos College Faculty Senate unanimously passed a resolution on October 23, 2018, to support student success and provide high-quality academic programs and student services, including counseling.

Additional information, including a campus map, can be found at www.cerritos.edu/guide or www.cerritos.edu/google-map. The Hispanic Scholarship Fund also received a 3-million-dollar grant to improve the performance of Hispanic students at Cerritos College.

As of April 2022, Cerritos College has a 36% unrestricted reserve - $41.8 million, which is $36 million more than the California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office requirement. The college is committed to using these resources to support students and provide opportunities for success.

The Cerritos College Faculty Association plans to rally before the Board of Trustees meeting on a date not specified, due to an impasse in negotiations. The Job Fair, however, remains a positive event focused on connecting job seekers with employers and providing opportunities for success.
