Latest Key Points from the Daily Press Information Bureau (July 11, 2025)
India is making significant strides in two distinct yet interconnected areas: education and technology. The Bharat 6G Alliance (B6GA) is working tirelessly to position India as a global leader in 6G technology by 2030, while the TALASH initiative, a partnership between NESTS and UNICEF India, is focused on providing inclusive and equitable education for tribal students.
The Bharat 6G Alliance, a collaboration involving industry, academia, government, and over 80 member organizations, including more than 30 startups, is driving innovation in 6G technologies domestically. Key achievements include the development of indigenous Radio Access Network (RAN) technology to reduce foreign dependency and boost self-reliance, and the creation of intelligent and inclusive networks, focusing on rural connectivity to ensure digital inclusion. The alliance is also emphasizing cross-sectoral 6G applications in agriculture, healthcare, smart cities, and sustainable development, expanding the socio-economic impact of 6G beyond telecom.
Meanwhile, the TALASH initiative, launched by NESTS and UNICEF India, is a national program designed for the holistic growth of tribal students in Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRSs). This partnership aims to bridge the education gap for tribal students and boost their national-level competitiveness. The program includes psychometric assessments, career counselling, life skills modules, e-learning for teachers, and a cascading capacity-building model that trains State Master Trainers (SMTs) and District Master Trainers (DMTs).
In the realm of education, the TALASH initiative aligns with major initiatives like PM-JANMAN and DAJGUA, aiming for a Whole-of-Nation approach. PM-JANMAN, launched to improve the socio-economic welfare of Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs), encompasses various sectors, including safe housing, access to clean drinking water, improved healthcare, education, nutrition, road and telecommunications connectivity, as well as opportunities for sustainable livelihoods.
The Aadi KARMAYOGI mission, launched by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, aims to build a cadre of 2 million tribal change leaders to strengthen last-mile governance and empower tribal communities across India. This scheme is expected to enhance the quality of life and well-being of the PVTGs by addressing their multiple and intersecting forms of discrimination and exclusion.
In a significant move, NESTS, Tata Motors Limited, and the Ex-Navodayan Foundation (ENF) have signed a tripartite MoU to provide quality JEE/NEET coaching to EMRS students. This collaboration will support the students in their preparation for these competitive exams, in addition to Olympiads, NTSE, and KVPY, as well as JEE/NEET.
On the technology front, India is transforming from a technology consumer into a technology exporter, with telecom equipment manufacturing growing under government incentives like the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme. This growth has fostered strong manufacturing and export performance, reflecting India's ambition to achieve 10% of global Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) in 6G technology originating from India by 2030.
In summary, through concerted efforts in R&D, collaboration among diverse stakeholders, strategic policy support, and a focus on indigenous innovation and global patent contributions, Bharat 6G Alliance is actively advancing India’s trajectory towards 6G global leadership by 2030. Simultaneously, the TALASH initiative, along with other educational and socio-economic programs, is working towards providing quality education and improving the lives of tribal students in India.
