Launch of EIT's Main Event Holds in Kazakhstan: Key Points for Graduates
Breaking: Unified National Testing (UNT) Kicks Off in Kazakhstan - Here's the Lowdown!
With the first day of the Unified National Testing (UNT) now underway, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan has dished out all the need-to-know deets about this examination!
As per the ministry, this year, applicants can take the main UNT twice and vie for the grant competition with their best score. However, they're limited to selecting only one combination of selected subjects for both attempts.
Almost 216,000 applications have been submitted for participation in the testing, with about 399,000 applications accepted considering two attempts. A whopping 75% of UNT participants have chosen to take the test in Kazakh, around 25% in Russian, and 266 in English.
"Candidates decided the testing date, time, and location themselves." The ministry revealed that on the first day of UNT, a total of 4589 people are nationwide, with 323 in the capital are sitting for the test. The UNT is being organized in 46 testing locations overall.
The number of subjects remains the same: three compulsory and two elective. The tests include 120 questions, with 20 on "History of Kazakhstan", 10 on "Reading Comprehension", 10 on "Mathematical Literacy", and 40 each on the selected subjects. The maximum score is 140.
The testing time is 4 hours (240 minutes), with an extra 40 minutes allowed for students with special needs.
"Each UNT participant will receive an individualized test version. During the exam, the testing software will have access to a calculator, the periodic table of chemical elements, and a table of salt solubility. Additional paper copies of these tables will be handed out to candidates for convenience", the ministry has mentioned.
Appeals concerning the test questions can be made within 30 minutes post the testing and during the testing period for technical reasons. The results certificate will be accessible in the applicant's personal account after the appeal has been considered.
The admission thresholds remain the same: 75 points each for "Law" and "Pedagogical Sciences", 70 points for "Healthcare and Social Security (medicine)", 65 points for national universities admission, and 50 points for others.
"To ensure safety and prohibit cheating, handheld and frame metal detectors will be used at the entrance. The testing venues will employ signal jammers for mobile and radio electronic communication, along with video surveillance. Video footage analysis will take place until October 31. Results from any testing sessions where prohibited items or rule violations are detected will be invalidated", the ministry shared.
Just a heads up, the National Testing Center of Kazakhstan recently appealed to candidates about changes in UNT dates. And rumor has it that they communicated how the main UNT will pan out this year.
Talking about costs, the National Center revealed that the fee for one attempt to participate in ENT is 5,640 tenge. It's possible for an individual to take the test twice, with both certificates being valid. Candidates can also compete for an educational grant based on their best result.
