Nearly nine out of ten full-time students regard part-time employment as essential, with over four in ten open to working in any discipline and close to four in ten desiring jobs related to their field of study, according to a recent survey by SuperJob.

Majority of Students in Tomsk Believe Hard Work is Essential

The SuperJob survey, conducted from July 1 to 31, 2025, has shed light on the varying perspectives of daytime students, parents, and graduates regarding part-time work and working in one's field of study.

Among the 2025 applicants, 25% believe that a student can work anywhere, while 85% of daytime students view part-time work as a necessity. However, it's interesting to note that among these students who believe in the importance of part-time work, 85% have no specified preference regarding the field of work. In contrast, 45% of daytime students are willing to work in any field, while 40% insist on working in their field of study.

The study also highlights a difference in opinion between daytime students and parents/2025 applicants about working in the field of study. Among the parents of daytime students, 36% believe that a student should work in their field of study, while 64% have no specified preference. On the other hand, among graduates, 28% support dedicating all their efforts to studying, while among students, only 8% hold the same view. Interestingly, among parents, 25% support their child dedicating all their efforts to studying.

However, the survey does not provide information about the opinions of daytime students who do not believe that part-time work is a necessity regarding working in their field of study.

This comprehensive survey offers valuable insights into the attitudes of students, parents, and graduates towards employment and field of study choices. It underscores the complexity of these decisions and the diverse perspectives that exist within each group.
