2025 UTME Results Breakdown: The Lowdown

Massive Number of Test-takers Fall Short, With Over 1.5 Million Scoring Below 200 in the 2025 UTME, According to JAMB's In-depth Data Disclosure

The dust has settled on the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), and the numbers are out! According to JAMB's official report, more than justice over a million candidates managed to score below the 200-mark threshold, a common benchmark for universities.

From the 1,955,069 processed results, only 420,415 candidates could creep past the 200-mark, with only 12,414 putting in a remarkable performance of 300 and above. To put this into perspective, just 0.63% of candidates made it to the high-performance bracket.

Among these top performers, a measly 4,756 candidates scored 320 and above. This number in pursuit of excellence was further whittled down by 7,658 candidates who achieved scores in the 300-319 range.

Needless to say, the underage candidates who were granted special consideration didn’t far better. Out of the whopping 40,247 underage candidates, only a minuscule 467 were able to display exceptional ability, with their future assessment results still pending.

Don't get too excited, though. The report also spotted some challenges that took a toll on the 2025 UTME proceedings. In total, 97 candidates were caught up in examination infractions, and 2,157 others are currently under investigation for potential malpractices.

Additionally, 71,701 candidates were absent for reasons unspecified. As if that wasn't enough, biometric verification issues surfaced once again, with candidates facing challenges undergoing investigation, and those cleared being rescheduled for examination at designated centers.

While a few results, including those of blind candidates and those in the JEOG group, are still being processed, JAMB has scheduled a press briefing for further clarifications and to give candidates access to their results via dedicated portals.
