Mystery Hole Appears on Almaty Street, Residents Fear Road Damage
A large hole has appeared next to an automatic irrigation system on Al-Farabi Prospect in Almaty, causing concern among residents. The incident follows recent flooding on Aamanjol Street, where thirteen cars were damaged after falling into a hole during heavy rain.
The hole on Al-Farabi Prospect remains unexplained despite an investigation. Local residents fear it may expand and affect the roadway. Earlier this month, residents of Aamanjol Street reported flooding on another road section, leading to significant damage. In response, Almaty Mayor Darhan Satybaldy issued strict reprimands to the Akims of Auezov and Medeu districts for inadequate control over contractors. The Deputy Akim of Bostandyk District was also dismissed. These disciplinary actions follow a series of road-related incidents in the city.
The unexplained hole on Al-Farabi Prospect and the recent flooding on Aamanjol Street have raised questions about road maintenance and contractor oversight in Almaty. The mayor's disciplinary actions signal a commitment to addressing these issues and preventing future incidents.
