New NCERT Class 11 Maths Syllabus for 2025-26 Academic Year Aligned with NEP 2020

The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has made significant changes to the Class 11 Maths syllabus for the 2025-26 academic year, aligning it with the National Education Policy and updated curriculum frameworks.

The revised syllabus continues to cover key topics such as Straight Lines, Conic Sections, 3D Geometry, Limits and Derivatives, Statistics, and Probability, but with some changes in content depth and removal of certain exercises to rationalize the textbook.

The new NCERT textbooks for Class 11 Mathematics 2025-26 reflect these changes, dropping outdated topics and exercise questions to better suit the updated syllabus.

Chapter-wise Syllabus

The syllabus is chapter-wise structured, including chapters such as Straight Lines, Conic Sections, 3D Geometry, Limits and Derivatives, Statistics, and Probability.

Exam Pattern

The theory exam will be for 80 marks with an additional 20 marks for internal assessment, maintaining the exam pattern from recent years.

Dropped Topics

Several topics have been dropped from the new textbooks, including Power Set (Chapter 1), Practical Problems on Union and Intersection of Two Sets (Chapter 1), Trigonometric Equations (up to Exercise 3.4, Chapter 3), Proofs and Simple Applications of Sine and Cosine Formulae (Chapter 3), the full Chapter 4: Principle of Mathematical Induction, 5.5.1 Polar Representation of a Complex Number (Chapter 5), 5.7 Square-root of a Complex Number (Chapter 5), Graphical Solution of Linear Inequalities in Two Variables (Chapter 6), Solution of System of Linear Inequalities in Two Variables (Chapter 6), the last five points in the Summary of Chapter 8: Binomial Theorem, Arithmetic Progression (A.P.) (up to Exercise 9.2, Chapter 9), Sum to n terms of Special Series (Chapter 9), Collinearity of Three Points (Examples 4-5 and Ques. 8, 13-14 in Exercise 10.1, Chapter 10), Shifting of Origin (Chapter 10), Equation of Family of Lines Passing Through the Points of Intersection of Two Lines (Chapter 10), Special Cases of an Ellipse (Chapter 11: Conic Sections), Section Formula (Exercise 12.3, Chapter 12: Introduction to Three Dimensional Geometry), Analysis of Frequency (Chapter 14: Mathematical Reasoning), and Distribution (Chapter 15: Statistics).

Availability of Textbooks

The textbooks are available for download in English, with chapter-wise PDFs provided. The latest NCERT Class 11 Maths textbooks in Hindi are also available for download.

Cross-Checking Old Textbooks

Old textbooks should be cross-checked with the new NCERT books, even if borrowed from seniors, to ensure understanding of the new syllabus.

Upcoming Changes

From the 2026-27 session, CBSE is set to introduce a two-level STEM curriculum for classes 11 and 12, offering Mathematics at basic and advanced levels. However, this change does not affect the 2025-26 syllabus yet.

In summary, the 2025-26 Class 11 Maths syllabus has been revised for content rationalization in line with NEP 2020 and updated NCERT textbooks are the authoritative source for the latest syllabus. Major structural topics remain consistent, but with streamlined content and exercises. The two-level STEM system for Maths will start a year later, from 2026-27.
