Nearly 350 Educators Learn to Create Healthy Classrooms at Discovery Lab's Event
Nearly 350 educators gathered on August 8, 2024, for the Discovery Lab's Educator Appreciation Night. The event focused on creating healthy Google Classrooms and preventing diseases, with a range of activities and tips shared.
The night kicked off with a discussion on building a Classroom Go-Bag. This essential kit should include a First Aid Kit, Flashlight, Snacks, Water Bottles, and Sanitizing Wipes. Educators also learned about crucial behaviors like sanitizing hands after blowing the nose, not sharing food or drinks, and sneezing into the elbow. Teachers emphasized hand washing as the most vital germ-prevention method.
Educators engaged in various activities throughout the event. A quiz game centered on diseases tested their knowledge, while a 'Don't Bug Me' booth raised awareness about classroom hygiene. A 'go-fish' game focused on emergency preparedness, ensuring educators were ready for any situation.
To reinforce these healthy habits, teachers were encouraged to have their students create a 'Healthy Classroom Heroes' poster. They also suggested making the poster interactive with a Classroom Health Pledge. Additionally, the Classroom Go-Bag could include contact information, books, sunscreen, Epi Pen, masks, and allergy lists. The Discovery Lab's event equipped educators with valuable tools to maintain healthy Google Classrooms and keep students safe.
