Newport Catholic Receives $10K Grant for New Robotics Program
Newport Central Catholic High School has been awarded a $10,000 grant by the Northern Kentucky Chapter of the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE-NKY) to establish a new robotics program. The initiative, set to be housed in the newly renovated Science Learning Center, aims to boost STEM education and critical thinking among students.
The Science Learning Center, which opened in January 2024, offers six distinct learning environments. It is situated on the third floor, providing a college-like atmosphere and scenic views of the Ohio River Valley. The robotics program, funded by NSPE-NKY under the leadership of President Caleb Claxton, is the third such initiative supported by the organization this year. Other beneficiaries include Beechwood and Erlanger school districts. Principal Kenny Collopy expressed his gratitude for NSPE-NKY's support, highlighting their role in expanding learning experiences for students at Newport Central Catholic High School.
The $10,000 grant will enable Newport Central Catholic High School to launch its robotics program, fostering enhanced STEM initiatives and critical thinking skills among its students. The program will be based in the newly renovated Science Learning Center, further enriching the learning environment.
