The Department "Faith in Dialogue" of the Archbishop's General Vicariate Paderborn, in collaboration with the Bildungshaus Liborianum and the Johann-Adam-Möhler-Institut für Ökumene Paderborn, have organised a series of online sessions to mark the 1700th anniversary of the Council of Nicaea.

These sessions, open to all those interested in engaging with the Nicene Creed, will take place at An den Kapuzinern 5-7, 33098 Paderborn. Participation in individual sessions is possible.

The Council of Nicaea, first held in 325 AD, was an ecumenical council convened by Emperor Constantine. Its primary purpose was to discuss and establish the fundamentals of the young Christian faith. One of the most significant outcomes of the council was the formulation of the Nicene Creed, a statement of faith that is still recited by Christians worldwide today.

Issues such as the divinity of Jesus Christ were debated at the Council of Nicaea, with the Nicene Creed laying a foundation for the understanding of the Trinity.

Dr. Cordula Heupts will be the moderator for these sessions, providing a platform for reflection and ecumenical dialogue.

For more information, visit the Liborianum website (http://www.liborianum.de/). The sessions are scheduled for September 1, 15, 22, and 29, 2025.

We encourage all who wish to engage in a deeper understanding of the Nicene Creed and its historical significance to join these online sessions.
