Over 1000 jobless and independent workers in Almaty receive short-term professional education
In a recent briefing, Aituar Koshmambetov, the Director of the Almaty Chamber of Entrepreneurs, outlined the chamber's priorities for the near future, focusing on supporting entrepreneurship, attracting investment, and developing strategic sectors in the region.
Koshmambetov's initiatives align with the broader regional investment forums Kazakhstan is involved in, with a focus on promoting investment in strategically important sectors such as energy and infrastructure. The chamber's efforts also aim to enhance legal and regulatory frameworks to boost investor confidence and create a favorable business environment.
Fostering international business and trade collaborations, particularly with partners in Southeast Asia and other regions, is another key priority. This includes expanding opportunities in manufacturing, green technology, fintech, and education. Supporting entrepreneurship through legislative and healthcare discussions is also a significant aspect of the chamber's work, reflecting ongoing efforts to address entrepreneurs’ needs and challenges at both city and national levels.
The chamber's projects, such as the "Baqytty Business" and "Eńbek" Programmes, have shown promising results. The "Baqytty Business" project has seen 2128 individuals receive certificates of completion, and 472 receive participation certificates. Meanwhile, the "Eńbek" Programme has included 6 training centres in the registry of educational organizations of the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs "Atameken" this year.
In addition, the chamber is implementing the "Business Links" tool, which facilitates business connections with foreign partners, in 4 missions in 2021. The implementation of this tool is expected to provide opportunities for Almaty businesses to expand their reach and collaborate with international partners.
The chamber is also focusing on enhancing local content in various sectors, with the local content ratio for construction objects under the "Roadmap for Employment" program in Almaty reaching 89% in the first 11 months.
In terms of education, the implementation of the entrepreneurship fundamentals project in Almaty has seen 3500 students of technical and vocational education organizations complete a three-month, 36-hour elective course on the subject.
The chamber is also actively involved in the dual education system, with 42 colleges and 351 enterprises covered, and 4389 tripartite agreements concluded.
In Almaty, 1334 graduates of 2020 have launched their own business, and 1412 listeners have completed online courses in the "Business School". The chamber has also been instrumental in providing services to 5753 clients through 7446 services since the beginning of 2020.
The chamber's efforts have not gone unnoticed, with 4 Almaty enterprises being among the 14 laureates of the "Altyn Sapa" contest, and one enterprise receiving the special "Isker" prize.
With 11 PPP projects worth 84.5 billion KZT from the local budget and 19.2 billion KZT in private investments currently being implemented, the chamber is making strides towards creating a more vibrant, diversified, and investor-friendly business environment in Almaty and Kazakhstan as a whole.
