Part-Time Faculty Spotlight: Dr. Katherine Strong

In the vibrant city of Rochester, a dedicated pediatric dentist named Dr. Katherine Strong is making a significant impact on the oral health of young residents. For over two years, she has been a key figure in the EIOH Smilemobiles programme, a community initiative that brings dental care directly to elementary school students.

Dr. Strong, a board-certified pediatric dentist and Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, works full time as a pediatric dentist at Twelve Corners Orthodontics and Pediatric Dentistry in Brighton. However, her passion for community dentistry led her to seek a part-time role in a public health setting. It was during a Monroe County Dental Society scholarship luncheon, where she met her mentor, Dr. Ritu Shah, that this opportunity arose.

Dr. Strong's commitment to her work on the EIOH Smilemobiles is evident. She spends two days a month on the mobile clinic, interacting warmly with the children and providing them with much-needed dental care. For some children in Rochester, the EIOH SmileMobile may be the only time they see a dentist.

Dr. Strong's dedication extends beyond her role on the SmileMobile. She is a fellow of the American Laser Study Club and a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and American Dental Society. She also serves as a director on the board of the Monroe County Dental Society (MCDS).

In her quest to inspire the next generation of dentists, Dr. Strong, along with Dr. Taylor Squires (an EIOH Orthodontics alumni), reinstated the MCDS Careers in Dentistry program. This initiative aims to educate local high school and college students about dentistry as a profession.

Despite the lack of search results specifically mentioning Dr. Strong and her professional background or involvement with the EIOH Smilemobiles in community dentistry, her impact on the city of Rochester is undeniable. The children she serves adore her, and her colleagues praise her for her commitment and interaction with kids on the SmileMobile.

In her personal life, Dr. Strong attended the University of Rochester as an undergraduate. Even during her early days of exploring dentistry, she found fulfilment in shadowing dentists in General Dentistry. Her journey in dentistry has been marked by resilience, as she once fractured #9 and received care at the Howitt Urgent Care Clinic.

Dr. Katherine Strong's work with the EIOH Smilemobiles is a testament to her dedication to improving oral health in the Rochester community. Her commitment to her profession, her patients, and her city is truly commendable.

Dr. Katherine Strong's involvement in the EIOH Smilemobiles program, a community initiative focused on health-and-wellness, reflects her commitment to education-and-self-development by inspiring the next generation of dentists through the reinstated MCDS Careers in Dentistry program. Her dedication to her career-development, as demonstrated by her roles in various dental organizations, is being recognized in her significant impact on the oral health of Rochester's young residents.
