Racing Welfare secures partnership with EPIC Risk Management for enhanced welfare support.

Step into the world of horse racing as EPIC Risk Management, the pioneering consultancy for problem gambling awareness and harm minimization, teams up with Racing Welfare, a charity supporting the workforce of British horseracing.

In this groundbreaking collaboration, EPIC has been crowned Racing Welfare's Safer Gambling Education Partner, aiming to raise awareness of gambling harms and ultimately prevent such issues within the sport.

As part of this partnership, EPIC will bring its leading prevention program, featuring sessions with individuals who have firsthand experience fighting problem gambling, to the table. Their gamble education program will now be part of Racing Welfare's portfolio of support services. This is a significant move for the racing industry and offers vital help to individuals in need.

With this partnership, EPIC is taking its first step into the horse racing industry, having already partnered with other leading sports organizations, including the English Football League (EFL), the Rugby Players' Association (RPA), the Professional Cricketer's Association (PCA), as well as Arsenal FC, Chelsea FC, and Manchester City FC. EPIC also boasts deals in the US with the NCAA and the NFLPA Professional Athletes Foundation.

EPIC's director of sports partnerships, Ben McGregor, expressed excitement about this new union, stating that it's just the beginning for EPIC's involvement in the horse racing sport.

"We're thrilled to announce this pioneering partnership with Racing Welfare, marking our initial foray into the sport of horse racing and setting the stage for further collaborations."

McGregor hinted at EPIC's education and prevention program being boosted by team members with lived experiences. He also emphasized EPIC's eagerness to work alongside Racing Welfare to lower gambling-related harm within the sport.

Racing Welfare's director, Simone Sear, stated that the charity's daily mission involves helping individuals struggling with addiction, including gambling addiction, which can often coexist with other addictions like substance abuse or mental health issues. Sear highlighted education as a crucial step in overcoming these addictions.

This announcement comes during the Safer Gambling Week, which runs from Monday through Sunday.

While EPIC's involvement in the horse racing sphere isn't explicitly detailed, their focus on high-risk environments and stakeholder collaboration suggests adaptability to racing contexts. For more horse racing-specific programs, additional inquiry towards EPIC or racing industry partners is recommended.

In the meantime, those in need of immediate assistance with gambling-related issues can turn to the SAMHSA’s National Helpline (1-800-662-4357), which offers confidential support.
