Mitsuko Osuga to Teach Japanese-Inspired Floral Design Class
Mitsuko Osuga, a renowned floral designer and the owner of Mitsuko Floral, a premier wedding and event floral design studio and school in Torrance, California, is set to teach a hands-on floral workshop focused on Japanese-style vases.
Born in Japan and with over 25 years of professional experience in Tokyo, New York City, and Los Angeles, Osuga brings a unique blend of Eastern and Western floral design aesthetics to her classes. She graduated from Waseda University in Tokyo with a degree in floral design (1988) and later received certification as a professional floral instructor from Parsons The New School for Design (1992).
The class, titled 'landscape', will focus on creative and colorful flower arrangements in a Japanese-style vase, inspired by the gallery exhibition 'KESHIKI | The Landscape Within'. Participants will learn hands-on techniques to build a basic flower arrangement, with an emphasis on mindfulness and the traditional art of Japanese floral design.
Each participant will be provided with a temporary vase, and will get to keep their finished arrangement. Osuga will share how she incorporates Japanese sensibilities and aesthetics to create arrangements, offering insights into the intricate world of floral design.
