Royal couple, Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, reveal plans for a new initiative in Japan

MUSUBI, a pioneering public-private partnership, is making waves in the UK and Japan. The initiative, described as innovative on the official UK Gov website, aims to grow future leaders through sports programs, business, educational, and cultural exchanges.

The name MUSUBI, derived from the Japanese word meaning 'connection/ tying together', perfectly encapsulates its mission: to strengthen ties between the two nations. MUSUBI's goal is to cultivate a new generation of young leaders who promote positive change, with over 14 pioneer partners and supporters backing its endeavours.

Deloitte, Odgers, Chubu Electric, and LSEG are among the key supporters, each contributing in unique ways. Deloitte will support MUSUBI's development into an independent foundation, while Odgers and Chubu Electric will support a mentorship scheme for emerging female leaders. LSEG, on the other hand, is providing a career support network for women in finance.

The initiative's focus extends beyond leadership development. MUSUBI also focuses on empowering women, promoting sustainable development, and enhancing cultural exchange. This is evident in its various programs, such as MUSUBI Women in the Board Room, Women's Economic Empowerment, the MUSUBI Robert Walters career development programme, and the SSE Pacifico Offshore Wind Scholarship Programme.

The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, Prince Edward and Sophie, recently attended a reception event for the expansion of their initiative MUSUBI. The event gathered senior officials, business leaders, educators, and cultural figures from both the UK and Japan, further highlighting the initiative's importance and reach.

The MUSUBI initiative is more than just a program; it's a unifying force that brings together academia, industries, and the government. With its strong support system and clear mission, MUSUBI is poised to create a future of young leaders in the UK and Japan who drive forward positive change.
