RSS Marks 100 Years: From Humble Beginnings to Shaping India's Landscape

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) marks its 100th anniversary this year. Founded in 1925 in Nagpur by Keshav Baliram Hedgewar, the RSS has evolved into a significant force in Indian society and politics.

The RSS began as a volunteer-based organisation, aiming to foster cultural awareness, discipline, service, and social responsibility. Today, it stands as a people-driven movement for national reconstruction, focusing on patriotism and national character-formation.

Over the past century, the RSS has made substantial contributions to various sectors. Its volunteers have actively participated in relief and rehabilitation efforts during natural disasters. Affiliated organisations have empowered youth, women, and farmers, promoted public participation, and strengthened local communities. The RSS's ultimate goal, 'Sarvangeena Unnati', translates to the all-round development of India.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was once an RSS pracharak, released a commemorative postage stamp and coin to celebrate the RSS's centenary. The RSS has played a significant role in education, health, and social welfare, reflecting its commitment to nation-building.

As the RSS turns 100, its impact on Indian society and politics remains undeniable. From its humble beginnings in Nagpur, it has grown into a movement that continues to shape the nation's cultural, social, and political landscape.
