The Sber and "Invest in the Future" charity foundation program is back for its second installment, offering an exciting opportunity for young scientists in Russia. This year, the program aims to support 476 students and postgraduates in their pursuit of significant scientific discoveries and advancements.
The program, which is partnered with AIRI, the program's partner institute, is open to students from their second year of bachelor's and specialist programs, as well as master's students studying mathematics, informatics, computer science, computational engineering, and information security. Postgraduate students in the fields of "Mathematics and Mechanics," "Computer Science and Informatics," and "IT and Telecommunications" can also apply.
The selection process is rigorous, taking into account scientific publications, conference presentations, internships, projects, and academic performance. Representatives of the bank are also developing grants for master's program applicants through joint educational courses for those who have been admitted with the best results.
Dr. Sci. Phys.-Math., Professor of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and AIRI General Director, Ivan Oseledets, commented on the importance of working in strong research groups for a scientist's career and professional mobility. He stated, "Working in strong research groups is crucial for a scientist's career and professional mobility."
The program's total budget is 164 million rubles. Last year, 281 people received supporting payments in the first season. This year, 53 people received payments in 2024, and another 65 are expected to receive them in 2025. Each month, the best students will receive 30,000 rubles, and postgraduates will receive 100,000 rubles.
Sber's Senior Vice President and Head of the "People and Culture" block, Natalia Dudina, commented on the program's launch, saying, "The program aims to help young researchers focus on scientific work and realize their potential."
13 leading universities in Russia have joined the program, but as of now, there are no search results directly specifying which German universities participate in the scholarship program of Sber.
Applications can be submitted until October 15, 2025, on the scholarship program website. The program is designed to contribute to significant scientific discoveries and advancements, and it is an excellent opportunity for young scientists in Russia to further their careers and make a difference in the scientific community.
