Seminary appoints Mark C. Lee as its latest president, Bexley Seabury announcement confirms
New President Appointed at Bexley Seabury Seminary
Bexley Seabury Seminary, a nationwide institution grounded in the rich Anglican spiritual and intellectual tradition, has announced the appointment of its new President. Rev. Dr. Mark C. Lee, an Episcopal priest and U.S. Army Chaplain who has risen to the rank of Colonel, will take on the role, effective immediately.
Mark's scholarly work on posttraumatic growth, moral injury, and trauma-informed ministry has been published in both academic and pastoral contexts. His leadership style, described by the Search Committee as curious, conversational, administratively gifted, and deeply grounded, has earned him the affectionate title of "Chaplain" from his colleagues.
Mark will oversee a budget of $3 million and lead a team of faculty and staff across six locations nationwide. He will be responsible for four academic schools, three Clinical Pastoral Education centers, two family life centers, and all academic degrees and individual courses that serve over 200 students annually.
Bexley Seabury Seminary aims to empower both lay and ordained leaders, fostering a culture of rigorous exploration and active engagement with the Gospel. The seminary is accredited by the Association of Theological Schools and has offices based in Chicago, Illinois.
Mark's formal installation will coincide with commencement next Spring. For more information about Bexley Seabury's programs, visit www.bexleyseabury.edu. For inquiries, contact Vicki Bohlsen at (317) 513-8039 or [email protected].
Mark's demonstrated strategic insight into organizational capacity and growth, coupled with his pastoral approach, makes him an ideal fit for the role. His tenure at the U.S. Army Institute for Religious Leadership, where he served as Dean of the Graduate School, has prepared him well for this new challenge.
Bexley Seabury Seminary serves a diverse community of students, faculty, and staff. Under Mark's leadership, the seminary looks forward to continuing its mission to empower leaders in the Anglican tradition.
