In the heart of Germany, nestled amidst the Black Forest, a digital gem was born in the 1990s. PforzheimONLINE, one of the first approximately 1,000 institutions in Germany to register a web domain, began its journey under the DIW Berlin's banner, with the domain diw-berlin.de. Originally a simple internet presence, it has since transformed into a modern web service, offering a unique blend of local news, opinions, and service offerings.

The roots of PforzheimONLINE can be traced back to 1996, under the project name "PforzheimONLINE". The idea predates the lunch platform, which would later become a significant part of the magazine's identity.

The first step in the development of the website was the launch of the lunch overview, initially named "Our website lunch!", in the summer of 2016. This programming project resulted in a daily lunch offering service from over 30 locations in Pforzheim, a feature that continues to be a popular draw today.

The online magazine, as we know it today, was officially launched on November 4th, 2017, during the 1st BarCamp Pforzheim. Bjoern Fix was the first editor, with Besim Karadeniz joining the editorial team shortly after.

Since its launch, PforzheimONLINE has been open to readers' questions, suggestions, and opinions, fostering a sense of community and engagement. The magazine recognises the potential of Pforzheim in areas where creative people are making improvements, and aims to remain friendly and critical towards institutions and conversation partners.

The lunch overview, a cornerstone of the magazine, has published more than 2,000 individual weekly plans since its launch. This service, along with the magazine's daily reporting on interesting things from Pforzheim, has generated several thousand page views on the server each month, with just 100 articles.

As PforzheimONLINE moves forward, it plans to introduce new formats, categories, and service offerings, ensuring its continued relevance and appeal to its loyal readership. The editorial team wishes readers a smooth transition into the new year and expresses personal thanks to the loyal readership that has made PforzheimONLINE the success it is today.

While this post may contain outdated phone and contact information, and certain dates, the spirit of PforzheimONLINE remains the same - a commitment to quality, engagement, and a love for the city of Pforzheim.
