Southeast Asia's Smoked Fish Market Sees Imports Surge Despite Market Decline

In 2024, the Southeast Asian market for smoked fish, excluding salmon and herring, saw a decrease of X% to $X. Despite this, imports surged to X tons, marking an X% increase from 2023.

The import price in South-Eastern Asia stood at $X per ton in 2024, a X% decline from the previous year. While the export price also decreased by X% to $X per ton, the region experienced a third consecutive year of export growth, rising by X% to X tons.

The Philippines and Indonesia led the exports, together accounting for approx. X% of the total. Meanwhile, Brunei Darussalam, Singapore, and Thailand were the top importers, responsible for X% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2024, the production and consumption of smoked fish other than salmon and herring in Southeast Asia grew at average annual rates of X% and X% respectively.

Despite a decrease in market value, the Southeast Asian smoked fish industry, excluding salmon and herring, witnessed increased imports and exports in 2024. The region's production and consumption have shown consistent growth over the past decade.
