State Support for Education Soars in Southern Russia
In Krasnodar Krai, students and applicants made the most use of state support before the new academic year, with nearly 3,000 people receiving 588 million rubles in student loans. This trend continued into August, with southern Russia seeing a significant increase in educational loans.
Over 8,000 students from southern Russia were admitted to top universities and colleges with state-supported student loans. In the first 8 months of 2025, 2.2 billion rubles in educational loans were issued, a 1.5x increase from the same period in 2024. Krasnodar Krai led with 1,2 billion rubles, followed by Stavropol Krai with 140 million rubles, and Rostov Oblast with 126 million rubles. The volume of educational loans issued in July and August increased by more than 2.5 times compared to the same period last year. Notably, the average age of borrowers is under 25, but interest in these student loans has also doubled among older students, with over 10,700 students taking out student loans in the first 8 months of 2025, a nearly 50% increase from the same period last year.
The growing demand for student loans with state support in southern Russia indicates a strong interest in higher education. This trend is expected to continue, with more students and applicants seeking financial assistance for their business studies.
