The National Family Project, launched in Russia in 2025, is a comprehensive initiative aimed at supporting families with children, promoting family values, and improving the quality of life for families with children. This project, initiated following a decision by President Vladimir Putin, is a significant step towards strengthening family structures and encouraging large families.

At its core, the National Family Project seeks to develop initiatives for active longevity, ensure quality care for the elderly, and create family-oriented cultural infrastructure. However, a key focus of the project is on the role of fathers in child rearing, a subject that the "National Priorities" social campaign supporting the Family national project is addressing with great emphasis.

The campaign aims to enhance family welfare, particularly during critical child development periods, by advocating for a policy framework that supports families. This includes measures for when one parent—often the father—adjusts work commitments to actively participate in child-rearing, contributing to improved demographic trends nationwide.

Key points of the campaign and related initiatives under the Family national project include supporting parents financially and socially during the early child-rearing period, upgrading and renovating educational and healthcare facilities, implementing socio-economic development programs, and encouraging societal recognition of fathers’ roles in child rearing.

The campaign has already seen the release of two video and audio spots titled "Father of the Year" and "Children Change Us for the Better". A Father's Day contest is also planned as part of the campaign to award fathers in various categories and compile user-generated content for a federal broadcast.

The video "Children Change Us for the Better" portrays how children bring about changes that make people better, encouraging self-improvement, increased productivity, and unconditional love. It highlights the transformative impact children have on their parents' lives.

According to a study conducted by ANO "National Priorities" and the Analytical Center of the National Agency for Financial Research in July 2025, 86% of respondents agree that having children allows a person to become better, with this figure being 90% among parents. This underscores the belief that parenthood can lead to personal growth and development.

Sophia Malyavina, general director of ANO "National Priorities", stated that more content in various formats will be released. The campaign will continue with outdoor advertising starting August 1st, further emphasizing the importance of fathers in child rearing and the support available for families in Russia.

The main idea of the "Father of the Year" video is that being a good dad does not require perfection, but simply being present and participating in a child's life. This sentiment aligns with the campaign's focus on the crucial role of a father in child rearing and the need to respect and recognise this role.

As the National Family Project continues to unfold, it is clear that its focus on supporting families and emphasizing the importance of fathers is making parenthood not only desirable but also possible for everyone who dreams of a large and strong family.
