University of Goettingen Kicks Off Diversity Event Series

The University of Goettingen, the city, and the district are hosting a series of workshops and events to promote diversity, inclusion, and democratic values in the workplace. All employees, students, and the public are invited to participate, with registration requested by September 5, 2025.

The event series, 'Showing Attitude - Standing Up for Democratic Values in the Workplace', is held in conjunction with the 13th national Diversity Day. It begins with a public kick-off on Monday, September 8, 2025, from 10:00 to 13:00 in the New Town Hall. Marlene Goehl from the Anne Frank Educational Center e.V. will open the event with her lecture 'Courage for Democracy - Together for Diversity and Cohesion'.

The workshops, specifically designed for employees of participating institutions, will focus on reacting to racist remarks, protecting employees from discrimination, and taking responsibility against anti-democratic tendencies. Attendees will also have the opportunity to discuss topics such as anti-discrimination and employee co-determination in small moderated groups, learning from good examples in regional practice.

The city, district, and University of Goettingen, along with various organizations like Ernst & Young and Sanofi Germany, have signed the Charta der Vielfalt, committing to respect and value all people regardless of their background, gender, orientation, or abilities. By participating in these workshops and events, attendees can contribute to fostering a more inclusive and democratic workplace, reflecting the values of the Charta der Vielfalt.
