The Selection Process
The selection process for the UPSC CAPF AC Exam 2025 is a rigorous multi-stage process designed to evaluate candidates on intellectual ability, physical fitness, medical fitness, and personality. The process includes the following stages:
- Written Examination: Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria are called to appear for the written examination.
- Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Medical Examination: Candidates who qualify the written exam are called for the Physical Efficiency Test and medical examination, which are qualifying in nature. The PET assesses candidates' physical fitness through activities such as running, long jump, and high jump, according to specific benchmarks. The medical exam ensures candidates meet the health standards required for the post of Assistant Commandant in the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF). Only those who meet the physical and medical criteria are eligible to proceed further.
- Personality Test / Interview: Candidates who clear the PET and medical examination are called for the Personality Test (interview). The interview evaluates the candidate’s personality traits, leadership qualities, communication skills, and suitability for the role. The interview carries a maximum of 150 marks and is crucial for final selection.
Candidates must successfully clear all three stages — Written Examination, Physical & Medical Tests, and Personality Test — sequentially to be considered for final appointment as Assistant Commandants in the forces mentioned above.
