Park University is gearing up for a busy December, with several notable events and achievements taking place.

On Dec. 6, the campus will host a series of significant gatherings. The International Sash Ceremony and the Board of Trustees Meeting will both take place, marking important milestones in the academic year. Additionally, the Ellen Finley Earhart Department of Nursing Pinning Ceremony will honour the graduating nursing students.

Retired Lt. Gen. Robert Skinner, a distinguished alumnus from the class of '89, recently stepped down from his roles as the director of the Defense Information Systems Agency and the commander of Joint Force Headquarters - Department of Defense Information Network. These agencies are critical network, communications, and information technology support agencies within the U.S. Department of Defense.

In the realm of politics, Matt Harris has been actively providing comments and insights on various issues. He was interviewed for stories that aired on KMBZ-FM on Oct. 29, discussing political discourse and civility. On Oct. 23, he provided comments for stories that aired on KMBZ-FM and WDAF-TV related to Missouri's proposed Amendment 3.

Park University has been well-represented in the local community. In the September issue of Ingram's, a Kansas City business magazine, the university was part of the Ingram's 250, a list of the most powerful business leaders in Greater Kansas City. Jose Madrid, a graduate student pursuing a Master of Healthcare Administration degree, was named to the Great Bend (Kan.) Tribune's "20 Under 40" list in October.

In the academic sphere, Monica Brannon, Ph.D., authored an article on "Uranium Mining Remediation, Environmental Assessment and Bureaucratic Violence Environmental Sociology" that was published on Oct. 19 in Environmental Sociology. John Hamilton, Ph.D. and Tamera Jenkins, Ph.D. co-authored the third edition of "Community Justice".

The International Center for Music (ICM) at Park University will host several events in the coming weeks. The International Center for Music Concert: ICM Strings Studios will take place on Nov. 14, with ten strings students performing. The International Center for Music Concert: Park ICM Orchestra will take place on Dec. 7.

Park University's women's golf team made history by earning its first-ever NAIA Women’s Golf Coaches' Top 25 ranking on Oct. 17, coming in at No. 25.

The university will also host its annual International Festival on Nov. 22, featuring cultural activities, a fashion show, performances, and an international buffet. The Parkville Symphonic Band will host a concert of heroic and Halloween music on Nov. 10, with donations accepted for the University’s Pirate Pantry.

The Fall Semester will end on Dec. 8, followed by a university closure from Dec. 26-31. The Christmas Holiday will take place on Dec. 24-25.

In a historical note, The Industrial Luminary, a newspaper co-published by George S. Park, the co-founder of Park University, has been digitized. It was published between 1853 and 1855 and served as a vehicle for promoting industrial development, economic progress, and community growth in the region.
