When Creativity Paves Your Way

In an inspiring tale of perseverance and self-discovery, Paolo Fulgenzi, a multi-faceted creative, has found a thriving environment at Sessions College, a renowned institution offering design, illustration, and digital media courses. Paolo's journey, marked by over 25 different schools before finding his niche, is a testament to the transformative power of education tailored to individual needs.

Before attending Sessions, Paolo lacked a significant resume of marketable skills. However, he found solace in the institution's flexible and creative educational approach, which has enabled him to earn three degrees: an Undergraduate Certificate in Web Design, an Associate of Occupational Studies in Illustration, and another Undergraduate Certificate in Digital Media.

Studying at Sessions offers several significant benefits for students with learning disabilities, largely by supporting diverse learning styles and fostering motivation and engagement. The institution's educational approaches incorporate multiple intelligences theory, allowing students to interact with material in ways that leverage their strengths—such as visual learning through drawing or kinesthetic learning through movement. This personalized approach helps students feel more included and confident, increasing motivation and engagement with coursework.

Moreover, Sessions provides a holistic and fair learning environment, allowing students to choose how they express and process information—whether through visuals, storytelling, or digital projects. This inclusivity supports personal growth and improves performance. The institution also offers a supportive academic environment, providing tailored support services and accommodations to ensure students with learning disabilities receive the help they need to succeed academically.

Paolo found some of the more technical courses challenging, such as JavaScript, Bootstrap/Dreamweaver I, Photography, and Digital Video Production. However, he also enjoyed and found rewarding courses like HTML/CSS, Illustrator 1 and 2, Watercolor, Color Theory, Technical Illustration and Infographics, Design and Composition, and Web Design I. The programs at Sessions provide a diverse array of skills, enhancing versatility beyond a single degree.

Paolo's advice to future students is to gain experience and create a strong portfolio to complement their degree, as contemporary professions often require additional experience. He demonstrates this through his personal project, a play-website for his sister's rabbit, which showcases skills from various courses, including image manipulation, creative writing, design, and composition, and web design.

In conclusion, studying creative fields at Sessions helps students with learning disabilities engage deeply through tailored, multi-sensory methods, build confidence, and develop essential digital competencies, all within a supportive framework designed to meet their unique needs. Paolo's journey serves as a beacon of hope and inspiration, emphasizing that everyone's journey is unique, and it's important to make the best of the opportunities available.

In his pursuit of a balanced lifestyle that combines creative artistry and technological proficiency, Paolo Fulgenzi turned to Sessions College, an institution renowned for its design, illustration, and digital media courses. Leveraging technology to enhance his education-and-self-development, Paolo found solace in the institution's adaptable educational approach that catered to his individual needs, enabling him to earn three degrees.
